Last year we started a major membership campaign in Colorado. People kind of agreed that IV is the appropriate platform for this crusade, and they were willing to contribute money, but only if they see required transparency in the IV organization. Members of the state chapters have so far not heard about how the contributed money is spent, and what kind of lobbying took place in Washington.
Is good to hear the cheers of "IV is our only hope", and yes in one way it is, but unless we bring required reform to IV, the status quo will maintain. That is several years since its inception : limited number of paying members, half hearted participation in various campaigns, and inactive state chapters.

Hi Guys,
My application was sent on Aug 7th reached USCIS (NSC)on Aug 8th. Recieved my reciept # today from lawyer. But my wife haven't recieved the RN. Was wondering if any one are in the same boat.

as a fellow human being my heart is full of sad by knowing your position. may god bless you and your family. as moderator (i think it was logiclife) said, you can not trust american doctors. go to a different country. if you are from india, i would suggest you to go to chennai / hyderabad and get checked. there may not be any cancer at all. you may be surprised with what miracles indian doctors can do. the survival of this dangerous illness is by staying positive about life. drugs will help, but having faith that you can overcome is very important. i pray for you and your family. ofcourse, when i pray daily the entire universe is added in my praryers. may god help all who needed help from him.

I do not understand why people spend their energy in coming up with some lame ideas. Just because you suffer does not mean that your fellows have to suffer, what is the point of being a sane individual with that kind of thought process.
There are people who come here on all kinds of visas F1, H1, L1 and like this country and stay back and need a green card for convenience. Students who came here want priority over people who came on H1B. It makes sense from their point of view.
Similarly people on H1B who got stuck in several stages and had to change the company have their own point of view.
How bout having a lame rule saying that GC for people with I.Q of 140 and above?

How bout having a lame rule like if you have a family you will be penalized by putting you at the end of the line for GC?
The list can go endless..
Worry less about who is cutting the line and getting ahead and please concentrate and put your energy and come up with good ideas and showing what we are really capable of..

I am happy to announce that I have received the EAD cards today (just like rc0878 had suggested). I should not have doubted the encouragement and estimation of the experience here.
So, I received the EAD cards dated Sept 18th, expiry is one year from the issue date i.e. Sept 17th, 2008 (unlike someone else's cards which were valid for only 3 months).
Let me know if someone wants to ask any other information.

I received my (and my family's) transfer notice (and hence the WAC### nos.) for 485 application yesterday at my residence. The cases were filed in CA by my lawyer (filing from MD). The cases have been transferred to TX.
I am yet to receive any notice/tracking no. for EAD and AP applications. The checks were made by the lawyer so that is not an option.
Questions::confused:
1) Does transfer mean delay in processing ?
2) Is EAD tracking no. different from the 485 no. ? If so, where can I get that from ?
3) Are they still issuing EADs in about a couple of months ? If so, that is great. If not, when does the 90-day clock start for INFOPASS ? (if it is an option in this incresed activity)
Any answers or discussions or links to the solutions are welcome.

Wouldn't count on that too much. Check how many people came in on H-1B just prior to those years. Then look at the annual per-country quota.

Cases Pending for year 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003 may be few hundresds..

How about we come up with a skit where we can reenact the drama about the whole episode in a funny way. Where we can have people portraying roles of USCIS Director, Secrtary of State, Immigrants calling franctically to India to get their documents, parents running around to get doucments, the start of rumor, the employees of uscis working on sunday to adjudicate the cases, then the flip flop of DOS. etc. Then we can put this on youtube and will attract publicity.

GCStatus, I think Prashanthg's point is a valid one but that in no way means that we should not sue USCIS for what all they have been doing all these years. This in fact will help us prepare our case even more stronger against USCIS. It is best we ourselves find all the gaps we might have while we proceed with this case instead of them coming onto the issue.
I would suggest everyone who ofcourse is in favor or in doubt to bring forward the issues they think we need to cover while we move on with this.

What about the applications received before release of bulletin?
When DOS doesnt have a Immigrant Visa available , its just not available.
DOS made it effective 2nd ,
"Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation have been made available. "
USCIS by law cant accept any applications effective 2nd.
People whoes H1B applications were accepted on first day and then were rejected , Can they have done something?

We need the legislature intervention to make the limit higher.

My app was sent to NSC on 7/2 but I-140 approved from TSC. Still no receipts, no checks encashed. Called USCIS, and they asked me to call after 90 days. Any ideas ? Is anyone else in the same boat ?

I read it the same way as you. The only difference I see here from provisions in CIR is that this seems to make a distinction between advanced degree holders from US vs outside. Looks like advanced degree holders from US do not have the 3 year restriction. This also seems to be consistent with section 203 where the employer would be allowed to start the GC process for US educated students while they are in OPT stage itself.
