hope that means they are willing to talk about giving EAD. If we get EAD all the lawsuits will be withdrawn. The law does not say AOS applications should not be accepted when there are no visa numbers available, the law only says AOS cannot be approved when visa numbers are not available. USCIS internal regulations says they will not accept AOS applications when priority date is not current. by now its quite apparent that USCIS has broken a lot of there own internal regulations just to make sure the visa numbers are used up before july 2 2007. Then can easily accomodate the EAD for july filers. It all depends upon the pressure exerted on USCIS and DOS

Then there are the people (incl Ombudsman) who say that such interim benefits (EAD AP) should not be granted to such large numbers of people without security checks etc.
My guess is that this is precisely why USCIS didn't want the all current situation. They don't want to be stuck with 700K applications which have no hope of getting a greencard for years upon years, while they churn out EADs and APs for all those years.
Of course, one fix would be to increase the EAD time period to 3 yrs. Something they have been unwilling to do.

I am a physician working in underserved areas in MN. I am greatly appreciated
in my community. I regularly get invited to Christmas parties by local congressmen. I never attend those due to my family obligations. However, this year I will attend and educate my congressmen as much as I can.
I am sure there are lot of physicians, like me affected by retrogression. Eventhough we live in remote areas, we can do whtever we can.
I am also willing to join in MN local chapter of IV. Any MN members kindly send me PM.

We will each individually send flowers to Emilio Gonzalez to be delivered July 10th. There is a suggestion to use a paypal account where we contribute money. However no one has come forward to take over the account so far.
The theme of the note attached to the flowers should be Sympathy or Get well.

Lets do a poll and we will get some idea about the count. Idea should be that each IV member who is voting "Yes" for the poll should try to convince and bring some more friends (non IV members who got affected with July VB) with him to participate in the rally

Atleast your DESI employers start GC early maybe after 6 months. Most american employers dont even start GC until you are in 5th year of H1. Employers are employers, they dont come with nationalities on their forehead. There are so many american companies who have filed bankruptcy when a large payment was pending and your desi employer attempted to recover it.

Good luck!. In my opinion, you need to know following people very well apart from money if you want to lead the same lifestyle.
1. MLA or MP (Even to get good school admission you need recommendation)
2. DSP or SP level police officer (to have security in life)
3. Thasildar level officer (to have your property secure)
4. Local Dhadha's support (to protect from land acquisition, other dadhas)
5. Good neighbors, teachers and relatives (to protect our loved ones spouse/kids from emotional attack)
And of course at least 2 crores cash (half million US $??). I don't have anything right now, so I would love to spend my rest of live here hoping to get GC some day in my life.

On aug 9 th, USCIS nebraska center issued a total of 4063 receipt nos for 485, EAD, and APs.

From this, if we assume ~4000/day, it ll take 20 working days to clear july 2nd filers (~80,000). My guess is by 31st Aug.

I'm in pretty much in the same boat as some of the other posters here. I don't have a valid H1b in my passport, I-140/I-485 is pending. EAD/AP is approved. My landing visa for Canada expires in May.
Has anyone tried landing and returning to the U.S. while on pending I-485 by utilizing their AP yet? Any issues? I expect my POE to be Chicago. Any information would be much appreciated.
This is driving me nuts. I really *really* don't want to abandon the Canada option, but the information I've come across on the forums have left me very apprehensive. I applied for Canadian Residency so that I could sleep a little better at night for the next three years, but looks like I bargained for nightmares instead!

Aug 12 8AM - Email -> Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.
Aug 12 9PM - Email -> Card production ordered.
Aug 15 - Email -> Approval notice sent (for ME)
Aug 18 - Email -> Approval notice sent for Spouse
Aug 18 - Received I-797C Approval Notice for both me and spouse by USPS. In fact i received 3 original copies of the same approval for me and only 1 for my spouse.
Still waiting for the actual cards to come.

I am waiting for FP .Even I have called TSC having intention to open SR ,i got the reply all files are up to date and they can not open SR for FP ...Files indicate that FP is complete.(God knows what they mean,whose fingerprint they have on my file) ....I have not given any FP so far except at the PORT of entry .
